German Gas Demand Fell 28.8% Below 2018-21 Average

German natural gas consumption last week stood 28.6% below the 2018-2021 average, compared with 24.7% the week prior, Bnetza data show.

  • Demand fell by 1.5% week on week.
  • Gas use by Germany’s industrial sector fell back below 2022 levels last week for the first time in four weeks. Industrial gas demand stood at 1.04TWh/d, down by 9.64% year on year.
  • German natural gas reserves stood at 95.17% of capacity as of 26 September, up from 94.58% a week earlier. This compares to the five-year average of around 86% of capacity.
