German Gov't-Talks On Ukraine To Take Place Tuesday

G7

Wires carrying confirmation from a German gov't spox stating that the G7 (of which Germany currently holds the presidency) will convene an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the latest Russian missile attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.

  • Unclear what future action could be taken by G7 nations. A no-fly zone remains out of the question for G7 states, but there could be increased level of military aid offered to Ukraine as a result of the meeting.
  • Video conference between G7 leaders to include address from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
  • Zelenskyy tweets: "Agreed with Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany holding presidency of G7 on an urgent meeting of the Group. My speech is scheduled, in which I'll tell about the terrorist attacks by RF. We also discussed the issue of increasing pressure on RF & aid in restoring damaged infrastructure. [...] Also had an urgent call with Emmanuel Macron. We discussed the strengthening of our air defense, the need for a tough European and international reaction, as well as increased pressure on the Russian Federation. France stands with Ukraine."
