German October Industrial Gas Demand Exceeded 2022 Levels

German natural gas consumption from industrial consumers stood at 1.186TWh/d in October, surpassing 2022 levels by 4.7%. Demand from households and small businesses also surpassed 2022 levels, Bnetza data showed.

  • Industrial gas use continued to lag the 2018-2021 average by 24%.
  • Germany’s gas demand from households and small businesses last month stood at 634GWh/d, up by 8% on the year but 33.5% below the 2018-2021 average.
  • German gas reserves stood at 100.14% as of 7 November, compared with 99.65% a week earlier. Germany is still seeing net injections into storage. Consecutive net storage withdrawals in Germany began around mid-November last year.
