German Regulator-Low NS Gas Flows Could Hit Winter Storage

Comments from the German energy regulator hitting wires:

  • Says that if Russian supplies via the Nord Stream I pipeline remain at the current low level, a 90% storage level by November will hardly be reachable without additional measures.
  • Says that the low Nord Stream I gas level affects transfer of gas to other countries such as France, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
  • Should the situation regarding gas storage in Europe look drastically bad come autumn/early winter there is likely to be notable political pressure from some quarters on gov'ts to look to make accommodations with Russia regarding sanctions in order to ensure a steady gas supply to keep the lights on and heating running.
