Germany, Qatar Sign Long-Term LNG Supply Deal

Qatar Energy and Germany have signed a long-term supply agreement for the delivery of LNG for up to 15 years,

  • Qatar will send around 2mn t/yr of LNG to Germany for up to 15 years, starting 2026, Saad al Kaabi, Qatar’s energy minister told reporters in Doha.
  • The LNG will come from the North Field South and North Field East projects, including from ConocoPhillip’s venture in Qatar.
  • Since the begin of the conflict in Ukraine, Germany has been looking to diversify its energy sources away from Russia, largely focusing on LNG imports.
