Germany’s Scholz Confident To Weather Energy Crisis

Germany’s chancellor Olaf Scholz is confident Germany can weather the energy crisis and emerge stronger from it, he said to the Bundestag.

  • The government will not be able to completely stop a surge in energy prices through subsidies but can reduce them to be bearable level, Scholz said.
  • Germany just recently introduced a cap on electricity and gas prices.
  • “Germany has the strength to master the crisis and emerge stronger from it”, he said.
  • "Then we will have more liquefied gas terminals on the grid, and the accelerated expansion of renewable energies will also have an even greater impact," Scholz said.
