GILT SUMMARY: Gilts are largely unchanged early Wednesday the morning after key
parliamentary votes on Brexit deal amendments.
- The Mar 19 Gilt future is up 2 ticks at 123.19, having traded in a range of
123.16-123.32 thus far.
- The 2-Yr yield is unchanged at 0.783%, 5-Yr is down 0.3bps at 0.912%, 10-Yr is
down 0.6bps at 1.263%, and 30-Yr is down 0.2bps at 1.749%.
- To recap last night`s votes: MPs rejected the proposal to extend art. 50 to
the end of 2019 if PM May fails to secure a deal with Brussels by late Feb, but
agreed to replace the Irish backstop with "alternative arrangements" and ruled
out a no-deal Brexit (albeit in a series of advisory amendments).
- Despite the drama, Betfair probabilities on `No Deal` Brexit have not really
moved since yesterday, still around 22% implied odds; prob of UK exiting EU
dipped a couple of percentage points, still around 29%.
- Labour leader Corbyn meeting with May today to discuss next steps.
- BoE lending/money supply data out at 0930GMT, with focus on Dec mortgage
approvals (survey median of 63.1k, prior 63.7k).
