Gimi FLNG Arrives at BP Senegal Project as Scheduled

The Gimi floating LNG production unit for BP's 2.5mtpa Tortue LNG project off Senegal arrived on schedule today according to ICIS.

  • The vessel will wait by Tenerife as the project is not yet ready to begin.
  • The vessel is due to operate on the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim field for the next 20 years.
  • The project is due to startup later in 2024 after delays, including to pipeline construction, pushed back the operations from a late 2023 start.
  • BP has had to pick a new company to complete laying the offshore pipelines.
