Global Factors May Apply Pressure Before BoJ Purchases

JGBS

JGB futures lodged modest gains in the final overnight session of last week, finishing +9, although the downtick for global core FI markets witnessed at the start of this week, in lieu of hawkish Fedspeak and a meaningful round of support for the Chinese property market, is likely to provide some downward impetus for JGBs in early Tokyo trade.

  • Domestic news flow has been headlined by the continued freefall of PM Kishida’s cabinet when it comes to public approval ratings (see previous bullet for more colour on that matter).
  • The latest round of BoJ Rinban operations (covering 1- to 3-, 5- to 10- & 25+-Year JGBs) headline the domestic docket today.
