Global LNG Exports Recover 5% Higher on Week as Imports Fall

LNG

Global LNG exports rose 5% to 7.44m metric tons while imports fell in the week to 18 June according to Bloomberg.

  • Australian supply increased by 0.3m tons to offset a decline in Malaysian exports. The US and Qatar only gained the equivalent of one and two cargoes while Egypt hasn't exported cargoes since late May possibly due to falling gas production.
  • Total imports fell 3% on the week to 7.48m tons with supply to NW Europe and Italy down 0.2m tons and the rest for Europe down 0.4m tons led by Spain. NW Europe imports were about 28% below the same period last month. Imports to JKCT fell by almost 0.2m tons but the Americas saw supply rising 0.5m tons.
  • LNG volumes at sea fell 10% over the last week to 2.47m tons on 18 June down from 2.75m tons the previous week and from a peak of 3.43m on 14 May.
