JAPAN: Government is set to extend its state of emergency by an additional month
to avoid any additional spike in COIVD-19 cases.
- The current state of emergency is due to expire on May 6. 
- Japan has 13,736 confirmed COVID-19 cases, causing 394 fatalities. This
amounts to the lowest number cases per million of population (109) of any
developed economy. For comparison: Spain: 5,067/mn, Italy: 3,333, US: 3,131.
