Government’s Omnibus Bill To Be Debated In Lower House

  • President Milei’s new omnibus bill will be debated in the lower house of congress on Monday after gaining approval in a committee hearing. Meanwhile, BCRA President Bausili, Finance Secretary Quirno and Foreign Affairs Minister Mondino are scheduled to meet with PBoC Governor Pan Gongsheng in Beijing amid negotiations over the $18 billion swap line. Around $5bn from that line is reported to need renewing by June.
  • Meanwhile, President Milei said in an interview yesterday that monthly CPI inflation could fall below 10% in April, following an 11% m/m increase in March. Milei said that wages are already starting to beat inflation and that the fight against inflation is yielding results, with signs of food and beverages deflation in the last two weeks.
  • On Friday, data showed that wages rose by 13.3% m/m in February, vs. 16.4% in January. April CPI inflation data will be published on May 14.
