The Greece government approved the construction of a floating LNG terminal (FSRU) off Athens in a fast-track process as the country increasingly relies on LNG imports to replace Russian gas imports, the ministry said.

The new terminal will be located off the coast near Athens and will have a maximum storage capacity of 210,000 cubic meters of gas.
Last year, Greece announced to build a 0.5bcf/d FSRU at Alexandroupolis by the end of 2023.
