OIL

An Exxon led consortium, responsible for all of Guyana’s crude extraction, is producing around 645,000 bpd at present, up from 400,000 bpd in late-2023 according to the US producer Tuesday.

  • Guyana is the world’s fastest growing oil province, something which has attracted interest from Venezuela to recently reignite border disputes.
  • Guyana platforms Liza Destiny, Liza Unity and Prosperity are currently pumping about 160,000 bpd, 250,000 bpd and 230,000 bpd, respectively – all above initially estimated capacities.
  • A further three projects (Yellowtail, Uaru and Whiptail) are expected to take Guyana production over 1.2mn bpd by 2027.
