Haddad Says Brazil Will Announce New Fiscal Measures Next Week

New fiscal measures will be announced by the government next week, with the aim of helping to compensate revenue losses due to the exemption of companies’ payroll, Finance Minister Haddad said in a meeting with journalists. (BBG)

  • The remedy to fight inflation is to cut interest rates, which despite falling, need to fall further, he said. Haddad said he hopes that monetary policy will emerge from the restrictive field and that the Central Bank will continue to cut the basic interest rate.
  • He added that the government will continue to pursue the zero deficit target in 2024.
