High Gas Prices Continue To Weigh On Europe Ammonia Output

European ammonia production remains curtailed but declining European gas prices and the next upcoming planting season could mean ammonia facilities resume production and in turn support European industrial gas demand according to Argusmedia.

  • Many European ammonia production plants curtailed production when European natural gas prices started first spiking in Sep 2021. Output reduction intensified with Russia’s invasion into Ukraine.
  • Several plants remain offline such as Yara’s Italian ammonia plant Ferrara or Ameropa's Azomures plant in Romania, despite declining natural gas prices.
