Ian First Hurricane to Shut in Gulf of Mexico Production this Year

Hurricane Ian has shut in at least 480,000 bpd of production in the Gulf of Mexico as producers shut down operations ahead of its arrival.

  • The hurricane reached Cuba today and it’s expected to reach peak wind speeds through the Gulf of Mexico tomorrow before making landfall on the US mainland.
  • Ian is the first hurricane to disrupt Gulf of Mexico production this year.
