Iraqi Crude Flows Slip in May as Turkey Blocks in Volumes

Iraqi crude exports fell to 3.27mn bpd in May, down from 3.32mn bpd in April according to Bloomberg vessel tracking – the lowest in nearly two years as flows via Turkey remain closed in.

  • Iraq didn’t export any crude from its northern fields in April or May after Turkey halted pipeline flows to the port of Ceyhan at the end of March.
  • It is hoped that Erdogan’s election win in Turkey will soon alleviate the bottleneck which has remained on hold while election campaigns progressed to the polls.
