IRGC Commander-If Israel Hits Nuclear Sites We Will Respond In Kind

IRAN

Tasnim News, an Iranian outlet with links to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is reporting comments from senior IRGC commander Major General Ahmad Haghtalab, claiming that 'It is possible and concievable to revise Iran's nuclear doctrine and policies, and deviate from past considerations.' Adds that Iran's nuclear sites are 'in total security' amid the prospect of Israeli retaliation against Iran's missile/drone attack at the weekend.

  • Haghtalab says that if Israel "wants to take action against our nuclear facilities and centers, it will definitely face our reaction and it will be attacked with the advanced weapons of the regime's nuclear facilities." Says that Iran has gathered its own information on nuclear sites in Israel.
  • While rhetoric such as this is not out of the ordinary for IRGC figures, the comments regarding nuclear sites and potential responses to any attacks could well escalate tensions between Israel and Iran further. The prospect of an immediate Israeli retaliation appears to have receded somewhat with any strike reported to be delayed until late April after Passover.
