POWER: Italy Eyes to Allow Nuclear Energy By Late 2027
POWER
Italy is eyeing to issue a plan by the end of 2027 to allow the use of nuclear power again, with a first draft law being submitted to the cabinet in the next two weeks, Energy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, cited by Reuters.
- "Italy is ready to return to nuclear power, a crucial choice that will not replace renewables but will complement them, ensuring a balanced and sustainable energy mix," Fratin said.
- The Italian government is planning to present a state-backed company that will build nuclear reactors in Italy, industry minister, Minister Adolfo Urso, said in late October. Italy is looking at Westinghouse and EdF for partners for the state-backed firm.
