Japan Feb Core CPI +2.8% Y/Y; Energy Price Dip Further

- Japan's national average core consumer price index (excluding fresh food) rose 2.8% from the year earlier in February, accelerating from the growth of 2.0% marked in January.
- Energy fell 1.7% y/y, narrowing from the previous 12.1% y/y drop.
- The underlying inflation rate measured by the core-core CPI (excluding fresh food and energy) increased 3.2% y/y, slowing down from the 3.5% growth last month.
- Prices for ex-perishables rose 5.3% y/y, lower than the 5.9% y/y increase in January.
- Prices for household spending rose 3.5% y/y, decelerating from the 4.7% y/y growth reported last month, and prices for accommodation increase 33.3% y/y, up from the previous 26.9% rise.
