Joliet Flaring Signals Restart Attempt

ExxonMobil’s Joliet refinery flared gas on Tuesday according to a filing.

  • The company said on Tuesday it was working to resume operations after a power loss last month.
  • The 251,800 bpd refinery started heating its units last week, according to industry monitor IIR. They reported the refinery was aiming for a mid-August restart.
  • The refinery mainly processes Canadian crude oil and produces around 9 million gallons a day of gasoline and diesel.
