After cooling earlier in t he year, the latest surge in housing start by 11.8% to 1.679M was "particularly upbeat" amid "strong gains tied to both single-family (11.3%) and multifamily (12.9%) units. Permits, meanwhile, rose 3.6% to 1.712mn saar in November, with decent gains for both single-family (2.7%) and multifamily (5.2%) units."
