June Belgium-German JAO CBC Auction Price Fall

The latest cross-border capacity (CBC) auctions for delivery in June on the Joint Allocation Office (JAO) in the Belgium-German direction closed at a lower price on the month, with prices in the other direction climbing, data from JAO show.

  • All 140MW of offered capacity in the Belgium-German direction was allocated at €15.40/MWh, down from €21.15/MWh also for 140MW for May delivery.
  • In the other direction, 140MW of offered capacity was allocated at €2.56/MWh, up from 139MW at €1.88/MWh for May.
  • Belgium has been a net export position to Germany so far in May at an average of around 455MW, up from 344MW in April and yearly high.
  • Belgium-Germany June spread closed at €15.08/MWh discount on 22 May, down from -€16/MWh from the previous day.
