Aussie bonds operate just shy of session highs as the early richening impulse derived from a recovery in core FI markets from Tuesday’s lows slows and participants await local & Chinese data.

  • Cash ACGBs run 1.5-5.0bp richer across the curve, with the 2- to -5-Year zone leading the way higher.
  • YM is +5.5, comfortably through its overnight high, while XM is +2.0, having failed to meaningfully break above its own overnight peak so far. EFPs have narrowed a little, with the 3-/10-Year box steepening, while Bills run 1 to 8 ticks richer through the reds, bull flattening.
  • Results from the auction of A$1.0bn of ACGB Nov-32 are due at the top of the hour, with July private sector credit and Q2 completed construction data due half an hour after, at the same time as official Chinese PMIs for Aug.
