Kanit Sangsubhan Leaves BoT's Rate-Setting Panel

THAILAND

The Bank of Thailand announces that Kanit Sangsubhan, former Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor, stepped down as a member of the central bank's Monetary Policy Committee effective April 24.

  • MPC Secretary Piti Disyatat notes that the panel will find a suitable candidate to replace Kanit and submit the nomination to the BoT's committee for approval.
  • The MPC will hold its next meeting on May 31. At the last meeting on March 29 it raised the key interest rate by 25bp to 1.75%.
