KazTransOil Boosts Oil Exports From Aktau Port

KazTransOil exported a total of 287k mt of oil via Azerbaijan’s Aktau seaport in January, up 36% year-on-year, according to Bloomberg.

  • Exports to the Makhachkala port in Russia were also up 11% on the year to 171k mt.
  • Kazakhstan’s President Tokayev requested in 2022 that KazTransOil raise exports via Azerbaijan.
  • Subsequently, KazMunayGas abd SOCAR agreed to ship 1.5m mtpa of oil from the Tengiz field to Baku for further shipping via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
  • Despite the rising flows, CPC exports via Russia’s Black Sea port still account for around 80% of Kazakh oil exports.
