Kurdistan Producer Receives No Notice on Potential Pipeline Re-Opening

Kurdistan oil producer Genel cautions against optimism around the Iraq-Turkey pipeline re-opening with talks reportedly advancing again this week.

  • "While there continues to be positive language from the Federal Government of Iraq and Türkiye regarding opening, Genel has received no guidance from the KRG regarding the status or timing of the pipeline reopening" it said.
  • Iraqi oil minister Hayan Abdel-Ghani said Sunday he expects to reach an agreement with the KRG and foreign oil companies to resume oil production from the Kurdish region's oilfields within three days.
  • There have been numerous false starts of a similar nature since the pipeline stopped flowing in March.
