Labour Leader Hints Corporation Tax Hike Here To Stay

In Q&A following a major policy speech in Manchester, main opposition Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer is asked about the planned increase in corporation tax from 19% to 25% from 1 April. Says that "We haven’t opposed the increase in tax", and that firms he has talked to are more concerned about stability rather than tax. Opinion polls show that the centre-left Labour Party are strong favourites to emerge with a majority following the next general election (due by 24 Jan 2025 at the latest). As such, the party's economic policy platform will garner more market scrutiny than would usually be the case for an opposition political party compared to an incumbent gov't.
