Lawmakers Agree On USD$10B Covid Package
US
The Washington Post has reported that Congressional leaders have struck a compromise on a new Covid-19 relief package that will enable the purchase of therapeutics, testing, and vaccines.
- Dan Diamond WaPo: 'Lawmakers have agreed on deal for $10 billion in US covid funds, set to be announced today — but have dropped funding for global response, people familiar tell me.'
- The Biden administration initially requested USD$15billion and have used the White House platform on three occasions to criticise Congress for putting the economic recovery at risk by blocking funding.
- Lawmakers now have a tight schedule to approve funding before Congress recesses next week.
