The far-right Alternative for Germany (Alternative für Deutschland, AfD) and the far-left nationalist Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht, BSW) are both set to make gains at the expense of parties from centre of the political spectrum, notably those included in the federal ‘traffic light’ coalition.
