Capacity on the 500MW Litpol link between Lithuania-Poland is restricted for security reasons, with no available capacity between 00:00-23:59 CET in the Lithuanian-Polish direction on 10 January, latest remit data show.

  • However, power flow from Poland to Lithuania will remain close to full capacity throughout the day.
  • The Remit follows the Baltic states' collaboration with Poland to secure energy infrastructure as they prepare to decouple from Russia by 8 February 2025, amid recent attacks on the 650MW Estlink 2, according to Lithuania's Energy Ministry, Reuters reported on 8 January.
  • At that time, Lithuania had said it deployed elite police forces to protect critical infrastructure, including its power link with Poland and its largest gas-fired power plant.
  • Polish grid operator PSE is actively collaborating with the Baltics on regional infrastructure protection projects and seeking EU support.
  • Additionally, PSE is also coordinating with Ukraine to ensure the safety of the link connecting Rzeszow in Poland with Ukraine’s Khmelnytsky nuclear power station.
