LNG Stockpiles at Japanese Utilities Rebound

LNG stockpiles held by Japanese utilities increased by 16% on the week to 2.54mn tons as of 10 December, the highest level since May, according to data released by the trade ministry, cited by Bloomberg.

  • This was up from 2.19mn tons as of 3 December.
  • Stockpiles are well above the five-year average of 2.06mn tons for the end of December but slightly below last year’s levels by 0.15mn tons as of 11 December 2022.
