Local General Elections (01 Nov): Polls Suggest Coalitions in Joburg, Tshwane & Erkhuleni

SOUTH AFRICA
  • News24 poll shows the ANC is unlikely to win a majority in the above three municipalities next week. Results suggest ANC support could fall to:
  • Joburg: 41% (vs 45% in 2016) against the DA's 25% (vs 38% in 2016)
  • Tshwane: 46% vs the DA's 26%
  • Cape town is expected to remain DA dominated, but by a smaller margin.
  • Overall, analysts are expecting the ANC to lose ground on its 55.65% majority 2016, but still enjoy a comfortable victory - and be in interesting prelude to the 2024 national elections.
