Mainichi: Tokyo To Seek COVID-19 State Of Emergency

Japan's Mainichi Shimbun reporting that Tokyo's regional gov't will seek the implementation of a COVID-19 state of emergency in the capital due to a spike in new cases only months before the proposed start of the already-delayed Olympic Games.

  • The city recorded 711 new cases on 19 April, up from 201 a week ago.
