Meti Survey of Japan Power Firms Suggests Secure LNG Supply in Winter: ICIS

LNG

  • One company expects LNG supply at the same rate as last year and anticipates “reasonable” LNG storage levels for the winter while another suggests LNG storage will be higher than last year.
  • Another company has secured sufficient supply and some volumes may be sold with contractual volumes exceeding demand.
  • An extreme price environment is not anticipated with ample European storage despite some concern around spot availability.
  • Inventory withdrawal from city gas companies would be possible in case of emergency with additional spot volumes in the unlikely event of demand exceeding expectations.
