MIDTERMS: Florida On Track To Deliver Strong Result For GOP

US

Florida looks on track to deliver an early result - with early vote counts suggesting another strong performance for Republicans.

  • As of a few minutes ago, Florida had counted over 2m votes with the Senate race between heavyweight Republican Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Rep Val Demings (D-FL) currently tied.
  • That's good news for the GOP as the early voting and mail-in votes are expected to favour Democrats.
  • Galen Druke at 538: "...things are not going well for Democrats in Florida tonight. [...] in 2018, Florida’s results came in early in the night, and they were good for Republicans. • Keep an eye on Florida's gubernatorial race. A strong performance for Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) could lay the foundations of a 2024 presidential bid, although he has lost ground this week to a resurgent Trump who is riding high on his hand-picked candidates looking set to win key races.
