MIDTERMS: New Hampshire Senate Debate Underway Shortly

US

12:00 ET 17:00 BST: Incumbent Democrat Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) will shortly face-off in a debate with Republican challenger Don Bolduc in the New Hampshire Senate race.

  • Livestream on the NPR website: HERE
  • Republicans see the race as an outside chance of a pickup with the most recent three independent polls putting Bolduc within polling margin of error despite Hassan maintaining a 6-8% polling lead for most of September and October.
  • Bolduc, while not formally endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has espoused many of the views common of Trump backed candidates.
  • Bolduc said in August: “So, I signed a letter with a hundred and twenty other generals and admirals saying that Trump won the election and, I stand by my horse. I’m not switching horses, baby. This is it.”
  • Bolduc later walked back his comments: “I’ve done a lot of research on this, [...] the election was not stolen. Elections have consequences and, unfortunately, President Biden is the legitimate President of this country.”
  • A victory for Bolduc, one of six Republicans primary winners who received some level of campaign boosting from Democrats, would be a strategic blunder for Democrats.
