  • Turkey Defense Ministry announces Blue Homeland 2021 naval exercises in the Aegean and Mediterranean involving a sizeable array of military assets, live fire drills.
    • Comes amid heightened tensions with Greece, which recently conducted joint drills with the US and objected to Turkey's hydrocarbon drilling in the northern Aegean (until 2 March) - despite this being recognised as international waters
  • Erdogan slams EU for failing to fulfil 2016 migrant deal (EUR 6bn), only granting EUR 3bn and now pressing for the second installment.
    • Erdogan also accused Greece of inhumane treatment of migrants and suspending asylum applications
  • Russia says it is ready to negotiate the sale of advanced SU-57 warplanes to Turkey after Erdogan expressed interest back in 2019, but Ankara has not yet made any offers.
    • Not a risk for now, but something to monitor in the background as this could exacerbate already tense S-400 discussions
