Military Officials Visit Belarus To 'Inspect Combat Readiness'-Def Min

RUSSIA

Belarusian Defence Ministry statement confirms that Russian military officials have visited military sites in Belarus in order to 'inspect combat readiness' of Russian units stationed in the country. This sort of announcement is likely to raise red flags in Kyiv given that Belarus was a major staging post for Russian forces in the initial, failed, attempts to take the Ukrainian capital in the early stages of the invasion.

  • Statement reads that, "...the quality of combat coordination classes was checked and an assessment was made of their readiness to perform tasks as intended in the interests of ensuring the military security of the union state."
