Mitch McConnell to Run Again for Top Republican in Senate

US

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has announced that he will run for another term as the Senate's top Republican in November's midterms.

  • This has nixed suggestions of a restructuring of GOP leadership on the Hill. It has also cast doubt on the influence of former President Donald Trump ahead of November.
  • Trump has been one of the most unpredictable variables during the early stages of campaigning, but his influence doesn't yet appear to be penetrating GOP leadership as many had predicted.
