MNI BoJ Review - July 2021: Negligible

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

  • The Bank of Japan left its headline policy settings unchanged, while making the expected tweaks to its economic forecasts. The Bank also declared that it will further "its efforts on climate change consistent with its mandate of achieving price stability and ensuring the stability of the financial system."
  • All in all, the impact of the green policy moves are seen as negligible, particularly when it comes to the domestic markets. The BoJ is effectively seen as on hold for the foreseeable (outside of some potential tweaks around the edges after years of ultra-loose monetary policy settings).
