MNI BRIEF: BOJ Keeps Scale of JGB Buying Unchanged

(MNI) TOKYO

The Bank of Japan on Thursday left the scale of its JGB purchases with a remaining life of five-to-10 years at JPY425 billion as yields face upward pressure.

The BOJ also left the scale of its purchases of JGBs with a remaining life of one-to-three years and three-to-five years unchanged.

The 10-year JGB bonds traded at 0.995% on Thursday, after rising to 1.000% on Wednesday for the highest level since May 2013.

JGB players continued to see the possibility that the BOJ may raise interest rates or scale back purchases of JGBs in the near future. (See MNI POLICY: BOJ Board Weighs Pace, Scale Of JGB Reductions)
