MNI BRIEF: BOJ Kuroda: Fed Tapering Is Separate From Rate Hikes

(MNI) Tokyo
TOKYO (MNI)

Tapering QE by the Fed will not impact foreign exchange and interest rate markets, Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said on Thursday, drawing a distinction to actual rate hikes.

Taper doesn't mean that the Fed will raise its policy interest rates, Kuroda told reporters. The Fed is widely expected to decide on QE tapering in November.

He also said that policy decisions by other central banks, including the Fed, will not affect BOJ monetary policy.
