MNI BRIEF: BOJ's Kuroda Says Recent FX Moves Slightly Rapid

TOKYO (MNI)

Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said recent forex movements are slightly rapid and the central bank is watching carefully, he told lawmakers on Tuesday.

Kuroda added that exchange rates should move stably and reflect economic fundamentals, while repeating a weak yen has a positive impact on the economy and prices as a whole, see: MNI BRIEF: BOJ's Kuroda Repeats Weak Yen Overall Good For Econ.

The JPY traded around 122.38 against the USD on Tuesday and last week hit the 125 mark, its weakest since 2015 as the central bank ended the fiscal year by defending the -0.25% to +0.25% 10-year Japanese Government Bond yield curve control range.
