MNI BRIEF: Brazil IPCA Inflation Decelerates to 3.69% in April
Brazil's IPCA inflation was 0.38% in April, compared to a 0.35% consensus forecast.
Brazil's IPCA inflation was 0.38% in April, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said on Friday, announcing a figure that was in line with the 0.35% consensus forecast.
In annual terms, prices rose by 3.69%, down from 3.93% in March, marking the seventh consecutive monthly deceleration in the 12-month accumulated series. The consensus was for 3.66%.
"In April, seven out of the nine groups of products and services surveyed saw price increases. Health and personal care were impacted by the price hike of pharmaceutical products (2.84%), due to the adjustment of up to 4.5% authorized by CMED (Chamber of Drug Market Regulation), starting from March 31," IBGE said.
