MNI BRIEF: Japan Sept CGPI Posts Highest Level Since 2008

Japan's September corporate goods price index rose 6.3% y/y, posting the seventh straight rise and up from a revised +5.8% in August, data released by the Bank of Japan on Tuesday showed.

September CGPI, which also posted the highest level since September 2008, was boosted by costs for lumber and wood products (+48.3% vs. +43.2% in Aug) and petroleum and coal products (+32.4% vs. +31.3% in Aug). Prices for final goods rose 2.9% y/y in September vs. +2.8% in August. September CGPI rose 0.3% m/m, up from +0.1% in August.
