MNI BRIEF: No ECB Objection To Elderson Exec Board Appointment

The Governing Council of the European Central Bank saw no objection to the appointment of Frank Elderson as a member of the ECB's Executive Board.

In a statement Wednesday, the ECB said Eldersen is a person of recognised standing with "professional experience in monetary or banking matters", as required by Article 283(2) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. Elderson is currently Executive Director of Supervision at De Nederlandsche Bank and is a member of the ECB's Supervisory Board. He also chairs the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System.

Following the Governing Council's and the European Parliament's "opinion", Eldersen will be appointed to the Executive Board will be appointed by the European Council.
