MNI DATA IMPACT: US ISM Manufacturing Softens Again in June

--ISM Manufacturing PMI 51.7 June vs 52.1 May
LONDON (MNI) - The US Manufacturing PMI eased for the third consecutive
month in June to 51.7 from 52.1 in May, the weakest level since Oct 2016. The
cooling of orders primarily led the PMI fall, accompanied with smaller declines
in Inventories and Supplier Deliveries.
Although the latest PMI beat market expectations, sluggishness in the
manufacturing sector continued into Q2, following an already depressed Q1. The
PMI data averaged 52.2 in Q2, the lowest level since Q3 2016 and down 5.7% on
the quarter.
The decline in business confidence on the quarter was led by all five
components, with New Orders registering the biggest fall.
Inflation also saw a slowdown, as indicated by the Prices Paid component
which was down almost 36% on the year.
