MNI Global Morning Briefing

MNI (London)

Wednesday's data calendar remains quiet with the only release worth noting being the publication of the US MBA Mortgage Applications at 1200GMT.

MBA Applications up for two successive weeks

According to the Mortgage Bankers Association mortgage applications rose 3.8% in the week ending October 30 after having increased 1.7% in the previous week. Meanwhile, the applications to refinance a home ticked up 6.4% and was 88% higher than in the same week last year. The report noted that mortgage rates continued to register at record lows with the 30-year fixed mortgage rate remaining unchanged, while the 15-year fixed rate loans fell to a new survey low.

Wednesday's events calendar throws up a busier schedule. Speakers to look out for include ECB President Christine Lagarde, VP Luis de Guindos and Chief Economist Philip Lane.
